Restoration of Corrosion Protection - Cathodic Protection
Outer Noesslach Bridge, Brenner Highway, Austria
The concrete of the 50 m high piers at the buttresses of the 180 m long arches was highly chloride contaminated up to a depth of 60 mm due to twenty years of exposure to de-icing salts. CP was applied to 1,500 m2 of the concrete surface, as only this measure did not jeopardize the load-bearing capacity and stability of the bridge. Efficiency and performance of the CP system can be monitored at any time through potential measurements.
