Construction of six prestressed concrete silos in Qena, Egypt

Qena Cement Company commissioned the construction of six prestressed concrete silos. The silos walls were slip formed with empty post-tensioning ducts placed together with mild steel to allow for subsequent installation of the DYWIDAG Strand Post-Tensioning Materials. The strands tendons were placed, stressed and grouted after completion of the slipforming. A total of 140 t of DYWIDAG Bonded Post-Tensioning Tendons were installed.

The DYWIDAG type SD 5-0.62" Strand Post-Tensioning System was chosen for the post-tensioning of the silo walls. The contract included the complete supply and installation of the post-tensioning.

The Egyptian affiliated company MISR DYWIDAG performed the installation work for the post-tensioning.
