Omega Bolts ®
General Design / Manufacturing
The Omega Bolt ® 10, 12, and 20 is a temporary rock anchor for tunneling and mining.
It has the shape of a greek "Omega" and is made from a 2.0 or 3.0 thick strip metal, grade S235, acc. to EN 10025 and welded longitudinally. The edges of the anchor are closed by setting and welding of charging head and an end sleeve.
Installation Description
The tubular anchor is pushed into the borehole (phase 1) and expanded by water at a pressure of 250 to 300 bar (phases 2-5). The anchor is pressed to the borehole due to elastic and plastic deformations of the tube and finally, the water pressure is taken away (phase 6).
Thus, an immediate and positive locking connection between the anchor shaft and the borehole is created by friction.
