Flimu System
Advantages and Characteristics
The DYWIDAG Extruded Coupler System produces a positive mechanical splice by hydraulically cold-extruding a coupler sleeve joining the butted ends of two reinforcing bars. The bar deformations are pressed into the softer coupler material using a specially developed extender.
- Highly effective slipfree splice capable of withstanding dynamic loads
- Fully bearing splice with lowest space requirements, even for highly loaded areas
- All bars can be spliced at a single cross section, eliminating the need to stagger joints
- Compact dimensions of the jack permit small bar spacing
- Splicing of multi-layer reinforcement possible without problems
- High production efficiency: up to 30 splices per hour
- Transition couplers are available to join rebars in different sizes
- Alternative couplers for special requirements available
- Short lengths for load transfer due to slip-free end anchorages
- Easy installation even of bent bars
Splicing
- h = height of bar end above concrete
- mark bar one half coupler length from end of bar
- place coupler over bar and attach with set screw (tapered end will point upward)
- insert matching bar
- install extruder - extrude - remove extruder
- inspect the engagement length of bars, also note the elongation of the coupler
