DYWIDAG-Systems International acquires ALWAG, Austria

DYWIDAG-Systems International GmbH (DSI) acquired the Austria-based ALWAG Tunnelausbau Ges.m.b.H. (ALWAG) with effect from September 21, 2006. In the past few years, ALWAG has developed into the leading supplier of roof support systems for the tunneling market in Europe.

ALWAG, with its head office and production facility located in Pasching near Linz, Austria, employs 60 people. ALWAG has strong R&D activities that have led to the development of several patented products and provides an ongoing service to customers requiring strata control solutions. ALWAG´s most important systems and products include AT casing systems, lattice girders and anchorage drilling systems. ALWAG Products are developed and manufactured in accordance with all relevant international quality standards. ALWAG´s significant strength are tailor made solutions to customers´ specific needs that can be installed quick and flexible.

DSI is a global market leader in the development, manufacture and distribution of geotechnical, tunneling and mining products. Headquartered in Munich, Germany, DSI has over 1,700 employees worldwide with operating organizations across Europe, Asia-Pacific and North and South America.

The DSI Group was acquired by Industri Kapital, a private equity fund, in 2005. Industri Kapital strongly supports the DSI Group expansion strategy.

The acquisition of ALWAG is operationally and strategically important as it provides a platform for DSI´s global expansion in the manufacture and supply of products and systems for the tunneling market on a global scale. DSI warmly welcomes the ALWAG employees to the worldwide DSI family.
