
DYWIDAG-Systems International (DSI) appoints new CEO and CFO
Aschheim, July 08. DYWIDAG-Systems International (DSI) is pleased to announce the appointment of two senior executives. Alan Bate has been appointed Group Chief Executive Officer (CEO) in succession to Howard Poulson, the company’s chairman and acting CEO, and Paul Taaffe as the company’s Chief Financial Officer (CFO).
Prior to his appointment, Alan Bate was Executive Vice President, responsible for ICI’s Adhesives and Electronic materials businesses. As part of the deal by Akzo Nobel to acquire ICI, Akzo Nobel concluded the “on sale” of these specific ICI businesses to Henkel Group. The latter completed on 2nd April. In his former role, Alan Bate was responsible for a global business with sales of 1.5 billion Euros and 4,000 employees. He was a member of the board of the former National Starch since 1993 and was an executive officer of Acheson Industries prior to its acquisition by ICI in 1997. Alan Bate is British, married and has two children.
The new CFO Paul Taaffe has in depth experience in the private equity sector, working as CFO of the VIATRIS Group sold by Degussa in 2002 and most recently as Group CFO at AKSYS the private equity owned automotive Group. Among other professional positions, the 48-year old Irishman was previously European Vice President of Finance at LEAR Corporation and General Manager Footwear at NIKE Central Europe. Paul Taaffe is married, resident in Germany and has two children.
Howard Poulson, Chairman of DSI, said: “DSI has become a global player and I am extremely pleased that we have gained two internationally experienced managers of this calibre for the positions of CEO and CFO. Alan Bate has held a number of positions of responsibility in Europe, the USA, and Asia, and is the ideal candidate for the demanding role of leading the DSI Group in its future expansion. Paul Taaffe brings with him experience not only of multinational groups, but also of the private equity sector. His active participation in numerous mergers and acquisitions is a real plus for DSI.”

DYWIDAG-Systems International GmbH (DSI) is pleased to announce that DSI has acquired MET-TECH Industries Ltd. on January, 3rd, 2008
MET-TECH, founded in 1981, is an important US producer of a wide range of mining products with strong R&D activities.
Situated in Cambridge, Ohio, MET-TECH is located in the northern region of the coal basin in the Appalachian Mountains. MET-TECH’s main activities include the development, production and supply of high quality ground support products and systems for the coal mining industry.
Commencing immediately MET-TECH will operate as DSI MET-TECH and will be part of DSI’s Mining Operations in the USA. Although the name may have changed, we can assure you that the management, staff and employees of MET-TECH as well as DSI are committed to maintaining the high level of service, technological innovation and product quality that has made MET-TECH a respected supplier in the USA. Our long term experience in mining as well as our global market position will enhance the level of service provided.

DYWIDAG-Systems International (DSI) acquires Idéaplast in France
DYWIDAG-Systems International GmbH (DSI) is pleased to announce that DSI signed an agreement with the french company Idéaplast on September 20th, 2007.
Idéaplast, which is headquartered in Champniers (Bordeaux), is a high quality manufacturer of plastic accessories (injection moulding) to the construction and automotive industry.
Founded in 1994, the company’s product range includes formwork spacers, form ties, safety items and automotive parts. Clients especially value its high level of production and technical expertise.
The acquisition of Idéaplast matches DSI´s growth strategy in the field of concrete accessories. It improves our market position in France and enhances buying power in injection moulding.
