Construction of the Pipeline Corridor Bridge in Saudi Arabia

The access road to the King Fahd International Airport in Dammam crosses the so-called Pipeline Corridor. To protect the pipelines placed in the area, the road connection to the airport had to be a bridge.
The total length of the bridge is 625 m, its width 2 x 20.5 m. The superstructure was using precast prestressed concrete girders. A total of 324 girders were fabricated in various lengths: 72 girders with a length of 28 m, 54 girders with a length of 32.5 m and 198 girders with a length of 37.5 m.
For post-tensioning the DYWIDAG Post-Tensioning System type MA with 9-, 12- and 15-0.62"; was used.
The contract included material supply, rental of special equipment and provision of a specialist for the technical support on site. The bridge structure was completed in the course of 2001.
